ADRIAN, Mich.--- Following news of a disastrous oil spill in nearby Calhoun County, 16th District State Senate candidate Doug Spade today launched www.TheGreatLakesProposal.com ---an on-line petition drive designed to spur Michigan legislators into placing on the fall ballot a measure to constitutionally ban oil and gas drilling in the Great Lakes and hold corporate polluters responsible for all cleanup costs and damages caused by their negligence.
THREE RIVERS---16th District State Senate candidate Doug Spade today welcomed Burt Fenby and his “Tour de Spade” Team to St. Joseph County as the bicyclists made their way through Three Rivers and Centreville. Fenby, a former Lenawee County Commissioner and current Director for the Lenawee County Community Action Agency, explained the trip from Lake Michigan to Lake Erie as a show of support for Spade’s efforts to take his fight for the people of southern Michigan to the State Senate.
On January 20, 2010, former state representative Doug Spade, accompanied by Lucky, his leader dog, came and spoke to the youth at the Holy Cross Children's Services Boysville campus in Clinton about overcoming adversity in his life. Doug told the youth he was born legally blind and can only see a little bit of light if it’s bright enough. He recounted stories of growing up on a farm, and deciding he wanted to be a radio personality.
